The Role
Reporting to the Design Manager the main duties will focus on the design and development of a full range of automotive cooling systems. This role is crucial in driving technical progress to bring projects to a successful conclusion by liaising with customers and ensuring that requirements are delivered in full, on time and to budget.
Summary of Duties
1. Mechanical and thermal design of automotive cooling systems.
2. Preparation of 3D CAD models and 2D drawings along with related BOM and product structures.
3. Project management from concept to line off.
4. Written/verbal communication internally/externally to suppliers and customers
5. Compliance on detail design with related Group and TS16949 Standards.
6. Guide customers through requirements at design stage by providing information on company guidelines / theory calculations / product issues.
7. Carry out comprehensive project evaluations using theoretical tools/CAD designs, calculations, prototype and validation tests combined with customer liaison to ensure a best fit to product requirements.
8. Develop document and issue Project Bill of Materials inline with business & customer
requirements.
9 Participate in cross functional pro active & corrective action groups
Requirements
1. Degree in Mechanical Engineering +2 yrs experience in a related discipline. Candidates can be accepted with related disciplines but they should have a heavy mechanical engineering bias i.e. Automotive Engineering.
2. Alternatively HND + 4yrs experience in a related discipline is preferred.
3. 3D/2D design experience, preferably in the use of Pro Engineer and or Catia V5
4. Good Automotive Design experience including workings with CAD applications, Geometric Dimensioning, and
Tolerancing. Specific design experience is required in the design of light mechanical assemblies utilising metals
and polymers
